The work of the Cultural Administration can be summarised in three words: Encounter, Experience, Grow. The aim is to create a cultural arena that attracts both old and young alike. Residents and visitors should be offered a range of activities that can inspire new encounters, the opportunity to experience new things and the desire to grow as an individual. Culture is something that we all have in common – language, traditions and the arts in every shape and form.

The municipal library is designed as a natural meeting point and a place where people can acquire new knowledge, read their favourite newspaper or magazine, enjoy an exciting book and listen to talks and presentations. Access to a complete range of library services is the right of everyone and to meet this need there are several branches and lending points throughout the area. These services not only include books and magazines but also internet access and a variety of multimedia productions.

Lending rules

A rich and varied selection of cultural events and experiences are arranged during the year by the Cultural Administration directly and in collaboration with a large number of local and national organisations and individuals. Financial and practical assistance is available in various ways. The specific focus on activities for children and young people is a means of stimulating their senses and generating an interest that will remain with them into adult life. 

The history of Ulricehamn and his surroundings dates back many centuries and its culture and traditions have become an important feature in the community. It is our duty to preserve and promote this rich and edifying endowment, ensuring that our constantly evolving cultural heritage is available to future generations.
