During the spring of 2009, the Human Resources Department was awarded a grant of approximately 500,000 SEK to work on reducing long-term sickness in the municipality. The project was a partnership between Ulricehamn and Tranemo municipalities and was managed by a project manager from the University of Gothenburg. The project aimed to develop better and new approaches for reducing long-term sick leave in the municipalities. In seeking ways to decrease long-term sick leave, we looked towards other countries who have managed to reduce their sick-leave such as the Netherlands which reduced its sick leave from 10% to 4% in recent years. For more information about this project please contact Ulrika Geeraedts, International coordinator in Ulricehamn
